That’s right IT professionals are still in demand. Even though the headlines seem to garner fear amongst the tech sector, most IT positions in the country are still readily available. With headlines alluding to mass layoffs in the big tech companies the tension within the labor market is high. However, most of the job cuts in these companies are from employees considered ‘low-productivity’ workers.

As the country stands, there are still about 200,000 unfilled IT job vacancies. The unemployment rate for IT sits just above 2% and during this year alone, we’ve added over 190,000 jobs. The problem down the road is that many companies in fear of a recession will refrain from hiring administrative positions. For IT professionals who demonstrate a strong work ethic and are results driven; they will likely find work over the next year.

On the other hand, if the country falls into a continuous recession then there is no guarantee for anyone. At that point the country would be suffering from an oversupply of skilled workforce but no one hiring. If you’re reading this chances are that you work in IT and are looking for an opportunity for work. Or, you are a company looking to hire IT talent through a talent recruitment agency.
